Raye says about 1.8 million people signed up for 'This Symphony May Contain Hope' on 23 October, and her team hand-checked the list for real fans.

Raye's one-off 'This Symphony May Contain Hope' at the Royal Albert Hall on 23 October drew about 1.8 million sign-ups for a hall Music Week gives a capacity of 5,000, Music Week reported on Wednesday 14 October, quoting Raye. Music Week reports the registration was swamped by fake automated sign-ups, and that her team manually reviewed the list to shortlist people they believed to be real fans.

On ticketing, Raye said this experience 'has really opened my eyes'.

She added that she and her team will think hard about what can be done in future. A DCMS spokesperson said the department remains fully committed to stamping out ticket touting for good, but the promised ban on resale mark-ups has not been implemented, and the industry is waiting to see whether it will be revived.

The show

The performance reworks her recent album in a symphonic format, with the Heritage Orchestra and Flames Collective, Clash reports. The artist presale was due to begin on Tuesday 13 October, with general sale at 10am on Thursday 15 October; sign-up ran through rayeofficial.com. We have not checked what remains on sale.
