Behind the scenes in Studio A: a presenter on a blue floor mat lit by an LED panel and a poly bounce

Hire · SE5 9HW, South London · from £160 · open 7 days

Key it on set, not in the edit.

A clean key is made on the day: an evenly lit screen, a subject standing well off it, and a room where you control every other photon. Studio A is the room at Scope used for green screen work — 1,200 sq ft, full blackout, a drive-in cove — and the only thing to settle before you book is whether you are bringing the screen or asking us to supply it.

How it works

  1. 01Tell us about the screenWe have not published an in-house kit list, so say whether you are bringing your own green screen or need one supplied, and we will confirm what is on site and what to bring, in writing.
  2. 02Book the blockStudio A sells in 2 hour, half day and full day blocks — £160, £320 and £620 — with rigging, screen set-up and pack-down inside the booked time.
  3. 03Quote the lightsLights are charged separately from the room rate — please enquire about our lights, and tell us you are keying so the quote covers an even wash on the screen as well as the subject.
  4. 04Pull a test keyLight the screen flat, light the subject for the scene it will sit in, and check a rough key on the monitor before the first real take. The guide below covers the rest.

Straight answers

What does green screen studio hire london cost at Scope?
Studio A starts at £160. Set-up and pack-down are inside your booked time.
Do you have a green screen studio in London?
Studio A at Scope in Camberwell, SE5, is the room used for green screen work: 1,200 sq ft, full blackout curtains and a drive-in cove. We have not published an in-house kit list, so tell us whether you need the screen supplied when you enquire and we will confirm what is available and what to bring.
Why does blackout matter for green screen?
Because spill and uneven light are what break a key, and the sun is the one lamp you cannot adjust. Studio A's full blackout curtains mean the screen is lit only by what you rig, and the light at the end of the day matches the start.
Can we drive a car onto the green screen?
Studio A is drive-in: the vehicle comes in at ground level through the roller door from the yard, where parking is on site. Whether the screen is yours or supplied is the thing to confirm when you enquire.
Can we also shoot on white the same day?
Yes. The room's own cove is a white drive-in infinity cove, so the seamless-white set-ups and the keyed set-ups can share one booking; whether the screen rigs alongside the white cove is confirmed when you enquire.
What does a green screen day cost?
Studio A is £160 for two hours, £320 for a half day and £620 for a full day. Lights are charged separately — please enquire about our lights.
