The stage is a line in the budget.

A producer pricing a job needs a stage with a published rate card. Studio A and Studio B sell by the block at published prices, load-in is at ground level from the yard, and the Workshop is the production office with twenty seats and ten iMac workstations. It is a small stage and it says so: the page below sets out what fits and what does not.

How it works

  1. 01Price the room from the rate cardThe published rates are the bid line for the room: Studio A £160, £320 and £620 for two hours, a half day and a full day; Studio B £120, £220 and £420; the Workshop £120 for a half day and £240 for a full day. A whole-building buyout is from £1,500 a day, and the DJ room sits outside it.
  2. 02Book it in the calendarStudio A, Studio B, the Podcast Room, the Music Studio and the Workshop each have an online calendar, and nothing is held until it is booked and paid for. Set-up and pack-down sit inside the booked time, so put the rig and the wrap inside the call sheet's block, not after it. Cancellation needs 48 hours' notice.
  3. 03Run the day from the buildingLoad in at ground level through the roller door from the yard, where parking is on site. The Workshop is the production office, the client lounge holds the client, and the kitchen and the dressing and prep room are in the building. Clients must hold appropriate insurance.
  4. 04Ask for what the room is notThe booking is the room. If the job also needs crew, camera, lighting and grip kit, set builds, props, casting, catering or post-production, the team can source and manage them and quote for them; none of it is priced here and none of it is assumed in a booking. Lights are charged separately in every room but the DJ room — please enquire about our lights and we will quote for what your shoot needs.

Straight answers

What does production company studio hire london cost at Scope?
Studio A starts at £160. Studio B starts at £120. Workshop starts at £120. Music Studio starts at £80. Set-up and pack-down are inside your booked time.
How should a production company cost a hire studio into a bid?
Use the room's published block rate as one line, then add lights, crew, kit, builds and post as lines of their own. Lights are quoted separately in every room but the DJ room, so ask for that figure early. Overtime terms are not published, so ask before you plan to overrun, and add your own contingency line.
Does set-up and pack-down time count against the booking?
Yes. Set-up and pack-down are inside the booked time, so a four-hour half day includes the rig and the derig. Build the call sheet backwards from the end of the block: wrap and pack-down are part of the schedule, not extra to it.
Can a production company keep a production office on site during the shoot?
Yes. The Workshop seats up to twenty with ten iMac workstations and runs as a production office, a casting room or an edit suite, at £120 for a half day or £240 for a full day. Book it alongside the studio, or take the whole building. We have not published the iMacs' specification or software, so say what you cut on when you enquire.
Can a production company take the whole building for a shoot?
Yes: from £1,500 a day for Studio A, Studio B, the Podcast Room, the Music Studio, the Workshop, the kitchen, the dressing room and the parking, with nobody else on site. It suits a production running a set, a quiet room, a production office and a client lounge at once. The DJ room is outside it.
Is Scope big enough for a large commercial or a feature interior?
It is a small stage: Studio A is 1,200 sq ft with a drive-in cove, and there is no lighting grid and no sound stage. It suits commercials, brand films, interviews, music videos and short-film interiors. If the build needs a grid or a large-format stage we will say so before you book; ask for ceiling height and power figures rather than assume them.
What insurance and paperwork does a production need to bring?
Clients must hold appropriate insurance; Scope is not liable for personal injury or for loss or damage to client property. Releases for anyone recorded are the production's to collect, and minors must be supervised. The film insurance and paperwork guide in the journal covers the usual set; ask if your insurer needs something from us.

In every room but one, lights are charged separately from the room rate, so please enquire about our lights and we will quote for what your shoot needs. The exception is the DJ room, where the professional film lighting is rigged in the room and included in the rate.

Anything not listed — ceiling heights, cove dimensions, power, capacities — is on request rather than guessed at. Ask us and you will get an exact answer.
