Meta Makes Image-to-video Ads Generally Available as It Pushes AI Deeper Into Campaign Setup

Announced on 6 October: video generated from static assets is generally available, with agentic campaign setup in early testing. No UK date was given.

At Advertising Week New York on 6 October Meta announced a set of AI tools for advertisers. The one that is live now: Advantage+ creative video from static assets is generally available, so an advertiser can have a set of still images turned into video ads. Relevant Audience, which reported the announcement on 8 October, says Customer Lifecycle Strategy is also available to all advertisers.

Rolling out or still in testing

  • Ads Creative Studio, which generates video concepts with edit controls, is beginning to roll out to more advertisers.
  • Catalogue product video from product images is in beta for eligible advertisers.
  • For the Meta AI business assistant, Meta announced creative insights and memory across conversations; agentic actions such as campaign setup, targeting and budgets are only beginning to be tested, and scheduled tasks and alerts are in testing.
  • AI-enabled audience discovery in Detailed Targeting is due by the end of 2026.
  • Direct checkout inside Meta AI, with Adyen, PayPal, Shopify and Stripe, begins testing this autumn.

Meta says advertisers who adopt the assistant's recommendations are typically seeing 5% more conversions at the same cost per conversion; the source notes Meta has not published the method, period or verticals behind that. Meta also says more than 60% of time spent on Facebook and Instagram is spent with video.

Neither of the two outlets that reported the announcement gives UK or European availability for any tool, and Meta's own post could not be reached, so check Ads Manager before planning around a feature.

The practical reading

If a still image can become a video ad automatically, a generic slideshow cut-down is no longer a differentiator. What a shoot can still supply that a model cannot is real footage: a person, a product handled, a moving shot. Our guide to shooting paid social video ads in a studio is about building that, with a vertical master and the alternates cut from the same set-up.
