Debenhams Launches Its Christmas Ad: Four Minutes, Emily Atack and a Power Cut
Debenhams' four-minute 'Christmas. For Everyone' went live on 15 October with Emily Atack and Mathew Horne, directed by Tom Day.
Debenhams launched its Christmas 2026 film, 'Christmas. For Everyone', on Thursday 15 October on YouTube, and TheIndustry.fashion calls Debenhams the first major retailer to launch a Christmas ad this year. It runs to four minutes and is the next chapter of Debenhams' 'The Village' platform.
It is directed by Tom Day and stars Emily Atack, Mathew Horne and Kym Marsh, with Mark Heyes as compere, a performance of 'Dreams' by Gabrielle and appearances from the creators Saffron Barker, Sammi Maria and Jay Beech. The plot is a village Christmas party disrupted by a snowstorm and a power cut.
Campaign's homepage lists the film as an Ad of the Day with the agency given as 'In-house'; TheIndustry.fashion names no agency or production company, so we have not.
The calendar from here
We could not find confirmed 2026 launch dates for John Lewis, Sainsbury's, M&S, Aldi, Coca-Cola or Amazon, so nothing about them is stated here. Past years' pattern is not a date.
A single-location village set with a lighting cue as the plot point is a standard studio problem. Our guide to planning a Christmas and Black Friday ad shoot is about the schedule that makes October launches possible.
