Three West End Plays Close on Saturday — and One Star Has Already Gone
Arcadia, The Truth and To Kill a Mockingbird all end on 12 September. Richard Coyle is not scheduled to play Atticus at any point in the final week.
Three West End plays finish on Saturday 12 September, a week after four others closed on the 5th: Tom Stoppard's Arcadia at the Duke of York's, Florian Zeller's The Truth at the Apollo, and Aaron Sorkin's adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird at Wyndham's. Seven engagements ending across two Saturdays is the season turning over.
Start with the one that could cost you something. If you booked To Kill a Mockingbird this week specifically to see Richard Coyle as Atticus Finch, check your date against the producers' own listing, which says it plainly.

Coyle returned to Atticus for this run having played the part in the 2022 West End production, and the season opened on 25 June at Wyndham's on Charing Cross Road. Around him: Aaron Shosanya as Tom Robinson, Anna Munden as Scout Finch, Gabriel Scott as Jem, Dylan Malyn as Dill Harris, Stephen Boxer as Judge Taylor, Colin R. Campbell as Sheriff Heck Tate, Evie Hargreaves as Mayella Ewell and Oscar Pearce as Bob Ewell. It plays Monday to Saturday at 7pm with Wednesday and Saturday matinees at 2pm, and runs about 2 hours 50 minutes including an interval.
Arcadia has been at the Duke of York's since 20 June, with press night on 1 July and the theatre reconfigured into the round for it — a genuinely unusual thing to do to a West End house. The company includes Nikki Amuka-Bird, Oliver Chris, Isis Hainsworth, Yolanda Kettle, Tim Frances, Matthew Steer, Aaron Anthony and Seamus Dillane.
The Truth is Zeller's comedy, running at the Apollo for a strictly limited season to the 12th, with Stephen Mangan, Ardal O'Hanlon, Sarah Hadland and Janie Dee. Mangan does not get long off: he is due in a major revival of The Cherry Orchard in October.
And the machinery keeps moving behind them. At Theatre Royal Drury Lane the changeover from Disney's Hercules is already done — Noël Coward's Still Life goes in today, for five days, before Sting's The Last Ship arrives on 22 September.
