Oasis's Reunion Film Premieres in Venice Saturday, London Wednesday
Steven Knight wrote it, Disney opens it on 9 September, and BFI IMAX is already selling tickets. The world premiere is Saturday night on the Lido.
'Oasis: Don't Look Back In Anger' has its public world premiere on Saturday 5 September at 9.30pm in the Sala Grande on the Venice Lido, with a simultaneous public screening at the PalaBiennale at 10.15pm. It plays in Venice Open, out of competition. The 83rd Venice Film Festival runs from 2 to 12 September and is already under way.
London gets it four days later, and the tickets are live now. Disney's UK page reads 'Tickets now available | In cinemas 9 September'. BFI IMAX has it on Wednesday 9 September at 8pm, Thursday 10 September at 8pm, and three times on Friday 11 September — 5.50pm, 8.45pm and 11.45pm — with more dates beyond. Certificate 15, IMAX with Laser, listed at 123 minutes against Venice's 122.
Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace direct. Steven Knight takes the screenplay credit on Venice's official listing and is billed by Disney as creator. It is a Magna Studios production presented by Sony Music Vision in association with Sony Music Entertainment UK, produced by Sam Bridger and Guy Heeley, with Tom Mackay executive producing.
One page, two numbers: Disney cannot decide whether the brothers last sat down together 15 years ago or more than 20.
That is worth flagging, because the figure is being repeated everywhere without anyone noticing the contradiction. Disney's own body copy promises 'the first joint interviews with Noel and Liam in over 20 years'. Steven Knight's quote, on the same page, describes the film as 'a seat at the table when Liam and Noel sit down together for the first time in 15 years'. Both numbers are Disney's, on one page. Cineworld and Time Out have run with fifteen; Bradford's IMAX and Official Charts with over twenty. We are not going to pick one on their behalf.
Two more things to hold lightly. In North America the film opens on 11 September with IMAX early access screenings on the 9th, which makes 9 September the genuine UK opening rather than a preview. And a UK premiere at Cineworld Leicester Square on 7 September has appeared on one event calendar, listing both Gallaghers and the director alongside Steven Knight — but no distributor or exhibitor confirms it, so it stays unconfirmed until one does.
